Twists and Turns

Spa - A legendary circuit that allows drivers to actually take risks in the aero-dependant cars today. In fact, it is just one corner, Eau Rouge. The closest I have been to the circuit is on a computer game, but it is one of the exhillarating feelings you get when you complete it time and again. I always felt the beauty of the track is due to its length. The average time for all the circuits is around 1 min 20s. But even the fastest Redbull car needs a late 1 min 40s to complete the track. The beauty I am talking about lies in those 1 min 40s. Every time one approaches the Eau Rouge, it always is a fresh attempt. The minor lift in the throttle, ever decreasing on each lap shows the opportunity the turn offers. Even in a game it is a great feeling to learn that you have something more in yourself.

Ali once said champions are not made in training rooms, they are made in the arena. They always have that little bit more stamina, little bit more effort, little bit more skill and little bit more will. This comes to use only when they are pushed to the extremes. What Ali said, may be meant may be for atheletes, but unknowingly he has sent a great message to the human kind. It is definitely applicable in almost all aspects of our life. The smallest effort made by the Father to his son or daughter, to make them smile counts as the the little bit something. The effort made by the programmer to make his or her code a little bit more refined counts as the little bit something. In India, an auto driver makes a small effort to earn a little more by asking his or her customer for an extra Rupee. A boy wooing a girl even after she had slapped him with her slipper, even he has that little bit more.

Everyone of us have the required skill to achieve something in our life. Does this make us champions? Yes. Whatever position we may be in life, we have put in that extra effort to reach that position. But the great asset of a champion lies in his or her desire to push the boundaries to the next level. Humans have that desire. Every human human has that desire. To do learn better, to earn better, to grow better, to do what we do better. This ability always makes us champions.

Like driving around the Spa circuit, every time we come to the same corner we should try to improve ourselves.
